Former Black Stars goalkeeper, Abubakar Damba has urged the team to approach Egypt with the right character and attitude.
The seven times African Champions will welcome the Black Stars to Alexandria on November 13th in the second round qualifiers of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana begun their qualifying campaign with a painful draw against the Cranes of Uganda at the Tamale Sports Stadium whiles Egypt defeated Congo by 2:1 in Kinshasa but the Dreams FC goalkeepers trainer has urged the team to approach the match with the right character and attitude.
Speaking to Adom Sports, Abubakar said, “Let us prepare very well. Let us go out there with the right attitude and the right character.
“Despite the fact that we are having challenges here and there, I believe very strongly that we have professional players and it is not about these players but it is about Ghana. The team has lost the trust and the supports of the whole country because what we use to see when the Black Stars are playing is not there anymore and the only thing that will bring back the supports is to go to Alexandria and win convincingly against Egypt.
“I believe the players will be able to do it but it will take the collective responsibilities the supporters, the people who are put in the right position to oversee the running of the Black Stars and how the pressmen are going to educate the public as to how to organize support for the team because the Black Stars needs everyone. We have done it before and I believe we can still do it but it said easier than done.” Abubakar Damba added.
Egypt is currently leading Group E with three points whiles Ghana are having just a point.
