All is not lost – Nii Lante Vanderpuye assures

Youth and Sports Minister, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye is of the view that Ghana has a chance of qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The Black Stars started their campaign with a painful draw against the Cranes of Uganda at the Tamale Sports Stadium.

After drawing with the Ugandans, seven time African Champions, Egypt who are in the same group with Ghana begun their campaign with a win over Congo. The Pharaohs are now leading the table with three points and will now welcome the Black Stars to Alexandra on November 13th.

A lose against the seven time African Champions will block Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the world cup in Russia but the Sports Minister believes Ghana has a chance of beating Egypt in Alexandra.

“When the World Cup draw was released I said, Egypt is not a threat but I see Uganda as threat to us because anytime they play with us, it is always difficult match.” Nii Lante Vanderpuye told Asempa Sports.

“I think the draw with Uganda was good because it was meant to happen but all is not lost because I strongly believe that we can go to Alexandra and win against them and win all our remaining matches and qualify for the world cup.”
