Technical director of the Ghana Football Association, Oti Akenten has disclosed all is not well with the senior national team.

The Black Stars have hugely dropped on the FIFA rankings after failing to win four consecutive matches. With a crucial match in hand against the Pharaohs Egypt and AFCON coming up in January, the performance of the Black Stars has been dwindling and has being a big worry to the football fandom but the experienced technical director has disclosed all is not well with the Black Stars.

“I see the draw to be normal because we are going for a competition so we should accept the group. I don’t believe that it is the group of death.” Oti Akenten told Asempa Sports when quizzed on the AFCON draw.

With an excuse of going to monitor Ghanaian players abroad, Avram Grant was yesterday spotted on SkySports analyzing English Premier League. Asked if he will be able to deliver the AFCON trophy with his behavior, he said, “We had an agreement with him going to the AFCON 2015 that he should only go and perform but he must win the trophy 2017 AFCON in Gabon.

“Against Uganda, we saw that it was difficult but against South Africa, we had reports that the players did very well so it doesn’t matter if the players are fit to play or not what we know is that, we have told him to win the AFCON in Gabon and that is what we are expecting and I believe against Egypt in our world qualifiers we can do better.”

Quizzed what has contributed to our setbacks in the FIFA rankings, Oti said, “Our recent setbacks in the FIFA rankings is an indication that all is not well with the Black Stars but as I have said we have asked him to win the trophy. Many factors have contributed into those recent setbacks which we all know that but that shouldn’t be an excuse not to win the AFCON. Let all help Avram Grant to archive that purpose for the country because I am highly expecting the trophy to be in Ghana after the tournament.”
