Amos Frimpong promises to win African trophy on club’s birthday

Kumasi Asante Kotoko celebrated its 81st Anniversary on Wednesday 31st August, 2016 at the team Secretariat in Kumasi.

Asante Kotoko Sporting Club was formed on 31st August, 1935 by Mr. J.S.K Frimpong popularly known as Teacher Kumasi from Mighty Atoms in 1934 with time Kotoko have grown to become a professional football club  that play it home matches at Kumasi Sports Stadium(BabaYara Sports Stadium).

They have been Champions of the Ghana Premier League a record 24 times and boast of the CAF Champions League trophy twice in 1970 and 1983.

During the 81st Anniversary celebration the current captain of the Fabulous team Amos Akwasi Frimpong speak on behalf of the players promised the team and the supporters that they ( the players ) will not hesitate to leave the club next year.

“On behalf of the players, what we have to say is we ask you to forgive us that our performances have not been up to your expectations this season”.

“So, I will use this opportunity to apologize to all Kotoko supporters and to urge you to supports us in prayers with the rest of the 3 matches of the league to finish on a very good note”.

“The Managements have said a lot and we ( the players ) have taken it on a good note. We will make sure we stay to play and win Africa trophy for Asante Kotoko”.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have won the CAF Champions League on two occasions being 1970 and 1983 champions and are looking forward to make it three on their next appearance.
