Accra Representative of Asante Kotoko who is also a legal practitioner, Thomas Boakye Agyemang has disclosed that the team is in a good shape for the upcoming 2016/17 season.

The Porcupine Warriors had a torrid season in the 2015/16 season and will be hoping to have a rejuvenated team under the auspices of Dr. Kwame Kyei who replaced Opoku Nti.

The Warriors went trophyless and finished on the sixth position in the 2015/16 season campaign. Owner and bankroller of the club Otumfuo Osei Tutu II dissolved the Opoku Nti led management.

However, Thomas believes the club is in a great shape and we are well prepared for the season.

“We are doing what Otumfuo is expecting from us but I must say we are still the same family.” He told Asempa FM
“We have a good plan for the club and that is why we have chosen to let some players go and some should stay. We want to compete in Africa again so we are doing everything possible to make sure that we archive our aims.

“We have recruited nine players and ten players have also left the club. We have swooped Eric Ofori Antwi with Medeama’s goalkeeper Abbas. We have given some players out for loan whiles some players also demanded that they can’t continue with the club and we settled that amicably so with the changes that we have made, the club is in great shape and we are well prepared for the upcoming season.

“We prepared a package for Stephen Oduro because he has served the club very well. The package was big and he will be part of the current and future administration and we will make sure that we will not delink him from the team.

“We are ready to sponsor him for his coaching course because he is playing an ambassadorial role for the club so there is no way we will let him down because the supporters like him and that is why we have chosen to retire his jersey number as a form of respect but we will allow him after he has finished acquiring his license A coaching certificate.

Reports emerged that the current administration are having difficulties due to the way Opoku Nti’s administration managed the affairs of the club and due to that Dr. Kyei’s administration will have nothing to do with the past administration but he however debunked the media reports indicating that they have not sidelined Opoku Nti’s administration.

“We have chosen to involve the Opoku Nti’s led management members in whatever we do because we are all one big family. We had a case the FA Disciplinary Committee but we involved the old management members and we have been able to resolve the case. Dauda Mohammed who left the club also had some issues that need to be cleared and because we were able to involved the old management members we have been able to do that so there is no way that we are going to sideline them.”

Asante Kotoko will welcome Liberty Professionals to the Kuamsi Sports Stadium in the match day one fixture of the Ghana Premier League.
