Accra Hearts of Oak tasted their first home defeat in the 2016-17 Ghana premier League in mid week against Ashgold.
Ashanti Gold have gone six straight games without a loss, having won four and drawn two. Daniel Gozar’s goal in the first half was enough for the miners to go home with all the maximum points.
Ashgold have been revived since C. K Akunnor took charge to fight their relegation battle. The team have been one of the improved teams in the second half of the 2016-17 league season. The miners defeated International Allies 0:3 at Obuasi in their last game before traveling to Accra to face the Oak team.
Hearts of Oak in the other hand had gone undefeated in Nine home games until the untimely defeat against Ashgold at Ohene Djan sports Stadium. Hearts is placed 3rd on the league table and are bent on winning the league for the first time in nine years
