Head coach of the Black Stars, Avram Grant says he is delighted with the team’s performance against Uzbek side Bunyodkor.
The Black Stars on Tuesday defeated Bunyodkor by 2:0. Captain of the team who came on as a substitutes, Asamoah Gyan and Frank Acheampong netted second half goals to give the Black Stars a 2-0 triumph at the Sevens Stadium in Dubai, UAE.
The match was part of the team’s preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon which kicks off in between January 14.
“It is always good to win,” Grant told Asempa FM. “But obviously, we do want to take some lessons from this game because we tried some things that are a bit new.
“It’s good to see how the players implemented those things here.”
The former Chelsea manager is also showered praises on the captain of the team who scored with his first touch of the game on 67 minutes.
“Gyan is an amazing striker,” Grant said. “Look at his stats compared to the minutes he played.
“His career is amazing so I’m not surprised he scored. He knows how to do it. He knows how to put the ball in the net.”
Ghana have been paired with Uganda, Mali and Egypt in Group D of the AFCON tournament.
The Black Stars will open their campaign against the Cranes of Uganda on January 17.
