Former Minister of Youth and Sports; Mahama AYariga has been implicated by the 2015 Auditors General’s report for spending $125,000 on documents prepared by a contractor to bid for the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) without written agreement.
According to the 2015 Auditors General Account, the Ministry paid $125,000 to a company by name Rics Consult Limited owed by one Rex Danquah to bid for AFCON 2017.
Mr. Rex Danquah says he will sue the ministry; if they fail to pay him additional $525,000.
“we had a meeting with the Chief Director; we all agreed to discount the dept. So I don’t understand why to be put in a box to be told that there is no contract when the people themselves had read through and accepted that the work was done.
According to the Chief Accountant of the ministry; Mr. Emmanuel Oteng, he is not going to pay any amount per his records.
“the records available before the ministry did not talk about the contract amount. As far as my records are concerned, I don’t have any commitment with Rics Consult to pay $525,000 as a contract signed.
The report added that, the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) didn’t give approval to the ministry to award the contract to Rics Consult Limited.
