Former Accra Hearts of Oak and Black Stars winger, Laryea Kingston has disclosed Black Stars players might have lost all faith and admiration for skipper Asamoah Gyan.

The skillful midfielder was speaking in an interview with Kumasi based Ultimate FM about what he thinks could be the cause behind the latest falls of the team.

The Black Stars kicked off their 2018 world cup qualifying campaign with an unsatisfactory 0-0 draw at the Tamale Sports Stadium against Cranes of Uganda last Friday.

Kingston believes Asamoah Gyan doesn’t commands massive support from his teammates, compared to the support Stephen Appiah established during his they’re playing days that had the likes of Michael Essien , Sulley Muntari, himself Laryea Kingston and the likes..

“Leadership is very important in the team. As a leader, the people around you have to accept you. But at the moment, I don’t think the players accept their leader [Gyan] because sometimes on the pitch, you can even feel some negative energy towards him [Gyan],” He told Ultimate FM.

“I’m not close to the team, but watching from afar, you can feel that something is not right. For example, during the Uganda game, I could feel Gyan didn’t stomp his authority.

“One instance he wanted to take a free-kick and another player took the ball from him. You had four or five players around the ball every time there’s a free-kick. That’s not right,” Kingston concluded.
