Striker Jordan Ayew shot Ghana in front on the 62nd minute after a barren first half encounter.
The Congolese however equalized in the 68th minute after Paul-Jose M’Poku scored from a long-range shot.
Deputy Captain Andre Ayew stepped up and slotted home from the spot to give Ghana the much-needed win in the game.
Ghana will thus face Cameroon in the semifinal clash on Thursday February 2 at 19:00GMT.
