Ghanaian winger, Christian Atsu scored his first goal for Newcastle United to earn a vital points as they defeated bottom placed Rotherham United 1-0 in the English Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The former FC Porto man netted the only goal of the match in the 42nd minute to secure his side all three points.
Atsu who was only making his first start since joining the Club on loan from Chelsea made a case for himself after cutting in from the right before bending a left-footed shot into the far top corner of the post.
The attacker was arguably the brightest spot for the Magpies until his substitution in the 66th minute when he made way for Matt Ritchie.
Atsu’s impressive performance will serve as a big boost ahead of Ghana’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Uganda.
