The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi has urged Ghanaian football fans to support the Black Stars.
The Black Stars defeated the DR Congo 2:1 in Stade de Oyem in the quarter finals stage and have cemented their name in the semifinals.
Jordan Ayew broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute but Congolese struck back in the 68th minute through M’Poku. Dede Ayew who captained the team converted a penalty in the 78th minute after Christian Atsu was brought down in the eighteen yard box of the Congolese.
Ahead of the tournament, many Ghanaian football supporters doubted if the team will qualify from the group stages of the competition due to the uninspired work of the head coach but after the win over Congo, the GFA boss has urged Ghanaians football fandom to support the team as they play Cameroon in the semifinals of the competition on Thursday.
“I am must say we are very happy with our qualification.” He told Joy Sports. “It was a tough game but we managed to win the match.
“We will be playing against Cameroon in the semifinals which we know is a difficult game but I know we will be ready for the match.
“For the past years we have been able to play in the semifinals and the finals of the competition but we always lose on penalty but we know penalties are everybody’s game but this time around we have employed a psychologist who is work on the players.
“I believe this time around, the players will be properly psyched up ahead of the game and I believe we will come out victorious and from there we will know whom to play in the finals of the tournament.” He added.
