The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ghana, Otto Plahar has certified the position held by the Ghana Football Association that they received $150,000 from the recent friendly between the Black Stars of Ghana and Russia.

Reports in the local media suggests the Ghana Football Association received two tranches of $150,000 and $177,000 from the Russian Football Union, Otto Plahar confirmed that the cash component of the friendly was $177,000 but $27,000 deductible as VAT was taken by the Russian Government leaving $150,000 for Ghana.

He also debunked the assertion that an amount of $327,000 was quoted in the contract.

Speaking to Accra based Kasapa FM in an interview, Mr. Otto said, “We have a copy of the contract with us (Ministry) and I think for the first time we should congratulate the GFA for making available the contract of the friendly to us. The contract sum is a total of $177,000 and $27,000 as VAT goes to the Russian Football Union with the remainder ($150,000) coming to the GFA. Let me say emphatically that the figure coming to GFA is $150,000. I believe it is important that when issues of this nature crops up we take our time before putting anything in the domain.”
