It was with profound regret that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) learnt of the tragic death of referee Emmanuel Ofei on Tuesday July 26.
The Premier League referee reportedly died after sustaining injuries in a motor accident in Adukrom in the Eastern Region.
Whiles we await full details of the incident, the thoughts and prayers of the entire GFA membership are with the bereaved family and loved ones at this sad time.
Referee Ofei who officiated the Match day 19 game between Ashantigold and Inter Allies, was regarded as one of the association’s promising referees and was selected for the 2017 FIFA referees course.
The GFA and the entire Ghana football family will sorely miss him.May his gentle soul rest in peace.
Meanwhile the GFA has asked for one minute silence to be observed in honor of the late Referee Ofei at all Premier League match venues in today’s midweek games.
Referees are also kindly asked to wear black arm bands at today’s games.
