Head coach of Ifeanyi Ubah FC; Yaw Preko says football in Ghana is still alive and that, Ghanaians should stop raising high hopes by comparing the Ghana league to other leagues; but instead, the players should be encouraged.
The former Heats of Oak coach on Sportsnite stated that, Ghanaians are giving themselves unnecessary pressure; they should limit themselves to what they have.
“even Nigeria here, they are complaining the same way as Ghanaians. They are saying their football is not on top as it used to be some time ago; so everybody is complaining.”
“Ghana still have players in the system and I know in no time, Ghana Football will go extra higher.” preko said.
Preko in his submission emphasized on the development of grassroots Football as being the backbone of Ghana Football.
“I was glad when I saw the Black Starlets play in the tournament [2017 U-17 AFCON] and they did well.
“all the good players in Ghana now want to travel Abroad regardless of the level of the team’s strength; this is all because of money and has made it difficult to see the best players.” He added.
Yaw Preko was an assistant to Kenichi Yatsuhashi at Hearts of Oak before moving to assist the same coach in Nigeria at Ifeanyi Ubah FC. He is now the head coach after the sacking if his boss; Kenichi Yatsuhashi.
