Former Hearts of Oak midfielder, Charles Taylor believes playing in the local league is a waste of time.
Ahead of the 2017 AFCON in Gabon, Latif Blessing who won the top scorer of the 2015/16 season and was crowned best player at the end of the season was invited to the camp of the Black Stars but was eventually dropped from the squad.
After exhibiting an impressive performance in the second round of the premier league, many football fans called on the Black Stars coach to include Hearts of Oak defender Inusah Musah in the squad for the AFCON but he was not invited to the camp of the team.
But the veteran midfielder believes with no local player making it into the 26 man provisional squad it is an indication that playing in the local league is a complete waste of time.
“There is no money in the league so a player gets no benefit from playing in the local league apart from being invited to play for the Black Stars.
“If I was still a player, I would have travelled to other countries to play football because the local players are not paid well.
“Local players have always been ignored by national team coaches. “I think playing in the local League is a waste of time.” He said.
