Former Asante Kotoko head coach, Kareem Zito believes local coaches are competent enough to manage the Black Stars.
The Ghana Football Association have set up a seven member committee to search a coach to replace Avram Grant after both parties parted ways mutually.
The search for a head will come to an end today. Several media reports has emerged that many Ghanaian coaches have applied for the job.
Names include Kwesi Appiah, Abdul Razak, Bashiru Hayford including many expatriates’ coaches.
Many Ghanaian football fan and pundits have called on the Ghana Football Association to give the team a local coach and according to sources Kwesi Appiah is in lead to get the nod as the next Black Stars coach.
But the Dreams FC head coach believes local coaches are competent enough to manage the Black Stars.
“There is a perception out there that local coaches can’t manage the Black Stars but it is never true.” He told Asempa FM.
“We cannot say that the players that will be invited to the Black Stars are all indiscipline. In terms of endurance and intelligent they will never be the same.
“So if a player misbehaves it doesn’t mean the coach is week or cannot manage the team. In Europe that we look up to them their players misbehaves sometimes.
“For me, we have competent local coaches that can manage the Black Stars and Kwesi Appiah is big fish that we have. He is respectful and we all saw what he did when the team was given to him. He has showed sense of humility since his days as a player but he was sacked not on the field but outside the field so let have faith in our local coaches and I believe they can win the trophy for the country.” He added.
