Assistant coach of the Black Stars, Maxwell Konadu has applauded his former side for emerging winners of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League season.
According to him, the playing body and the entire management demonstrated championship credentials in their run to win the league title.
Wa All Stars were crowned Champions of the GPL after beating Aduana Stars by 2:1 in the match day 29 fixture.
“We look at teams that are buying big names. Teams that are engaged in good recruitment policy and I think this is what happened. While others were buying big names – and I am not in any way imputing that it is wrong – they decided to go for these young guys that can sustain the travelling, shuttling up and down and all that and I think it has paid off.” Maxwell told Asempa Sports.
“Their boys are very young. They can travel for eight to nine hours and play a game the next day. The same thing cannot be said of players who may be 28 and upwards and doing the same number of hours and giving a club the output they want.”
The Wa-based club beat all odds to clinch the GPL title and will represent Ghana in next year’s CAF Confederations Cup next year.
