Head coach of the Senior National team the Black Stars, Avram Grant has disclosed winning the Africa Cup of Nations trophy will determine a contract extension with the Ghana Football Association.
The Football Association have charged the Israeli tactician to win the Nations Cup in Gabon after narrowly missing it out in Equatorial Guinea to Ivory Coast on penalty shootout.
The former Chelsea and Portsmouth manager is yet to present his final 23 man squad after he released a 26 man provisional squad for a training tour in Dubai ahead of the competition in Gabon.
Many football enthusiasts have urged the Ghana Football Association not to award the former West Ham manager contract extension but Mr Grant believes his future of extending his contract will be determined by the outcome of the AFCON.
“My only concern now is to win the AFCON and help Ghana achieve the utmost trophy.” He told the press.
“After that we will see with my contract if I should continue or not but as at now it is strictly about the tournament.
Quizzed about the teams recent poor performance, he said, “We are very determined to improve the performance of the team because we face a tough task going to Gabon but I know the players will improve.”
The Black Stars will be hoping to qualify for the next stage of the competition after being paired with Egypt, Mali and Uganda in Group D.
