Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi has described out-going youth and sports minister Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye as an antagonist disclosing he opposed the plans of the association.
The Member of Parliament for the people of Odododiodio had an unhealthy relationship with the GFA leading to the Black Stars poor performance playing five matches with a win.
Under the auspices of Nii Lante Vanderpuye, winning bonuses given to the management team of the Black Stars was canceled, complementary tickets given to FA during Black Stars matches was frozen and slashing the teams winning bonus from $10.000 to $8000.
The final qualifiers of the AFCON coming up in Gabon next, Nii Lante urged the Ghana Football Association to use local players or the players buy their own tickets and pay their own winning bonuses.
The GFA boss in an interview with the press after his outfit’s extraordinary Congress on Monday claimed the minister antagonized the FA.
“Sports Minister was antagonistic to us. Anyway, now he belongs to history. Forget about him,” he said.
Nii Lante failed to attend the Ghana Football Association Congress on Monday in his last meeting with stakeholders of the game. Vanderpuye is set to vacate his post after his political party lost Wednesday’s Presidential Elections.
