Head coach of the National U- 17 Women’s team, Evans Adotey has attributed the ladies inability to achieve their target to poor preparations.
The Maidens were eliminated in the quarter-final stage of the ongoing FIFA U- 17 women’s world cup by a 93rd minute goal against North Korea having amassed six points to finish second in their group.
Ahead of the competition, the team couldn’t get enough preparations because the sports ministry uttered they don’t have enough money to organize matches for them.
Ghana was the first country to land in Jordan for the competition but was painfully axed by the Koreans.
Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, the experienced coach said, “Our target was to finish in the last four this year we couldn’t achieve our target. We have done well in the past so it was our hope that we reach that level this year but due to poor preparations we couldn’t perform to our ultimate level. Our preparation was very poor “.
The Black Maidens arrived in Ghana to a rousing welcome by Ghanaians who were enthused by the sheer display of talent and patriotism at the world cup.
