Spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association (GFA); Saani Diarra, has unfolded all the arrangements pertaining the West African Football Union (WAFU) tournament that will be held on September 9 in Ghana.
The Communications Director on sportsnite said, the tournament which involves only local players will be organized to international competition standards.
“all the participating teams will arrive on Monday; the tournament kicks off on the 9th of September and ends on the 24th of September. The opening match is between Ghana and Gambia. Attendance is free to all students but non-students will pay GHC5.00 as gate fee.”
According to the former BBC journalist, dignitaries from Confederation of African Football (CAF) will be present to grace the occasion.
“CAF president, Amad Amad and his Executive Committee Members will hold a Sly Tetteh Memorial Lecture when they arrive, they will visit the president of Ghana and also, witness the final game.” He added.
The tournament was initially scheduled to take place at the Cape Coast and Sekondi Sports Stadium; but an expert has advised that, the Sekondi stadium is not in good shape to host the competition so it has been replaced by the Nduom Stadium in Elmina.
