Minister designate for Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah has disclosed he will fight to make sure the laws governing the country in reference to football will work under his auspices if he is approved as the Sports Minister.
Several reports emerged after 2014 FIFA World Cup. Former Sports Minister, Afriyie Ankrah was accused to have embezzled state funds during the tournament.
The former President John Dramani Mahama commissioned an independent body to find out what was the cause of the country’s shambolic display during the tournament after exhibiting an impressive performance in the 2006 and 2010 World Cup respectively.
The commissioners made some requirement to former president but the reports have not being implemented.
But the Member of Parliament for the people of Atwima Mponua constituency has assured the general public that the laws will work ones he is approved by parliament.
“For me if you have embezzled state funds the laws will work under my administration if I am approved by this august house.” He told the Committee.
“Unfortunately we don’t even have Sports Colleges to train people. We all know of Winneba Sports College but the truth is it is not even accredited so the laws will work to retrieve those funds.” He added.
