Owner and bankroller of Neoplan Stars, Jonathan Abbey Pobi is of the view that the Youth and Sports Minister was right to have said the league was not attractive.

Ahead of the 2016/17 season, some club administrators have planned to put their club on sale due to the difficult nature of running football in Ghana. Medeama SC, Berekum Chelsea and Ashgold are currently on sale.

The just ended league was played with a headline sponsor after First Capital Plus pulled out their sponsorship deal. The Youth and Sports Minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuye quizzed the Ghana Football Association why are they not able to secure a headline sponsor for the premier league if the league is that attractive.

This statement by the former GBC worker did not go down well with the FA but the vociferous football administrator says the minister was right to say the league was not attractive.

Speaking to Asempa Sports, Abbey Pobi said, “Personally I don’t understand why some club administrators are ready to sell their clubs.

“If so then the minister was right to say the league was not attractive because I don’t think any serious club will boldly come out say the club is for sale. It will only happen when the league you are playing is not attractive enough.

“The administrators feel they are not getting anything after spending on the clubs so the best way is to sell the club because the league is not attractive.” He added.
