We are Not Concerned about the Performance of our Rivals – Michael Osei

Interim coach for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Michael Osei has revealed that they are not bothered about the performance of their title rivals especially Accra Hearts of Oak.

The Porcupine Warriors failed to take their chances in their week 19 fixtures against Bechem United at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

The supporters of the club were frustrated because Kotoko were eliminated out of the MTN FA Cup competition by the Bechem based club at their home grounds of the Warriors and they again drew with Bechem United at the same venue in the GPL. The fans questioned the tactics of the coach and the way he approached the match and he was booed at the end of the match.

Some section of the supporters were calling on the resignation of Michael Osei who took over from David Duncan. Michael Osei have been able to win 8 matches, losing 3 and drawing 2 out of 13 matches played since his appointment.

The draw against the Bechem based club have left the Warriors on the 3rd position on the league log with 32 points and now play Ebusua Dwarfs at the Cape Coast Robert Mensah Sports Stadium in the week 20 fixtures of the Ghana Premier League.

“The supporters should back us with prayers because all is not lost because if you look at where we were, the players have done very well.” Osei told Asempa Sports in an interview.

“With how things are going, I think that is how things are supposed to be but I know that we are part of the title contenders and I know we can win the league.

“Going to play Ebusua Dwarfs at Cape Coast, we will go all out and play against them and we are hoping to get all the three points but I must say that Dauda Mohammed will miss that match but without him, I am hoping to get all the three points.

He continued, “We are left with 10 matches to go but for me, we are not disturbed about the performance of our title rivals especially Hearts of Oak. We only have to concentrate on our performance because this is a competition so we are not looking about the performance of others.

“We should not discourage the spirit of the players simply because they drew with Bechem United because this is football and in football it is either win, draw or lose so I will say that let forget about everything and back the team with prayers because we have better chance of winning the league so I will urge the supporters to continue believe in us.” Osei added.
