Swansea City today clinched the signing of World Cup winner Fernando Llorente from Sevilla for an undisclosed fee.
The striker, who will wear squad number nine, has signed a two-year contract at the Liberty Stadium after undergoing a successful medical.
Llorente arrives in SA1 with a hugely impressive CV, having won both the World Cup and European Championships with Spain, for whom he has 24 caps.
At club level, he’s lifted two Serie A titles with Juventus, along with the Coppa Italia, while he reached the Champions League final in 2015.
In Spain, the 31-year-old helped his first club Athletic Bilbao to the finals of the Copa del Rey and Europa League on three occasions.
And, in May, he lifted silverware after Sevilla beat Liverpool in the Europa League final.
His arrival bolsters Francesco Guidolin’s options up front as the Swans gear up for the new Premier League campaign.
Swans fans could get a first glimpse of their new signing as early as tomorrow (Saturday), with Llorente available to face French side Stade Rennais in a friendly at the Liberty.
