Aduana Stars striker, Yaya Mohammed has tipped Accra Hearts of Oak to win this year’s premier league title.
The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker has already banged in 11 goals in this year’s premier league. Yaya’s performance was very impressive in the first round of the league but seems to be struggling since the league resumed. He was leading the goal king chart in the first round of the league but have lost it to Liberty Professionals striker, Latif Blessing leading the goal king chart with 13 goals.
“It will be very difficult for Kotoko to win the league because if you look at how Hearts of Oak and Aduana Stars are performing, Kotoko will play Aduana Stars at the Kumasi Sports Stadium and I must say that it will be a very difficult match for Kotoko.” Yaya told Nhyira FM in an interview.
“The chances of winning the league, I will say Accra Hearts of Oak has a very big chance of winning the league because in my opinion I don’t think Wa All Stars is ready to win the league. Because if you are ready to win the league, you will not lose some vital points playing at home whiles you want to win the league.
“I know it is possible to draw with Liberty Professionals playing at home but looking at how things are moving, if you are aiming to win the league, you will not lose those vital points.
Quizzed if he is still aiming the goal king title, he said, “As a striker, I think this is the time I want to win something for myself because as striker you have to score week in week out in order to enable you to win the goal king award.
“If I am able to win the award at the end of the season, I will be very happy, but if it does not happen it will keep on trying but I am very optimistic that I will win the goal king race this year.” Yaya added.
